Sintavia, a designer and additive manufacturer of complex mechanical systems and components for the Aerospace & Defense industry, announced today that Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (“BPMI”) had awarded it a contract to develop a dedicated additive manufacturing facility in support of the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. The new, vertically integrated plant will develop and additively construct innovative nuclear propulsion systems for both in-production and in-development United States Navy submarine programs, including the next generation of nuclear-powered attack submarines.

As the U.S. Navy looks to develop advanced submarine platforms, it is imperative that additive technology plays a central role in that development. In the second quarter of 2023, the new facility, located in Hollywood, Florida, is anticipated to begin operations.
