WEST BOYLSTON, MA U.S.A. (June 24, 2026) – EMUGE-FRANKEN USA, a leading manufacturer of high-performance end mills, taps, thread mills, drills, and other rotary tools, has expanded its popular TOP-Cut VAR made in the U.S.A. high-performance end mill line with the introduction of two new chip-breaker configurations: the TOP-Cut VAR Square End Chip Breaker and the TOP-Cut VAR Corner Radius Chip Breaker. Featuring unique geometry and coating, TOP-Cut VAR End Mills are the most versatile variable helix carbide end mills solution in the industry, and the addition of chip-breaker mills further enhances performance in applications where chip evacuation, process stability, and tool life are key factors.

The new chip-breaker variants are designed to break chips into smaller, more manageable segments, reducing the risk of chip packing and jamming – particularly in deep-pocket milling, slotting, and in high-efficiency toolpaths. Chamfered cutting edges provide added stability, while chip-breaker serrations on the edges improve chip segmentation and evacuation in demanding milling applications. Both square end and corner radius versions feature a 7-flute design, variable pitch helix, and advanced ALCR PVD coating, enabling high feed rates and excellent vibration dampening across a wide range of materials including steels, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous metals.

The TOP-Cut VAR Square End Chip Breaker mills are available in diameters from 1/2″ to 3/4″ and are offered in multiple lengths to support a wide range of milling strategies. A total of 20 SKUs are available, and SKU counts include both straight and Weldon shank options to accommodate different tool holding.

The TOP-Cut VAR Corner Radius Chip Breaker tools are available in diameters from 1/2″ to 3/4″, with multiple corner radius options from 0.030″ to 0.120″ to suit a range of profiling and finishing requirements. Offered in several overall lengths and lengths of cut tailored for both finishing and light roughing, these tools feature fully blended corner radii to extend tool life and improve surface finishes. The Corner Radius Chip Breaker offering includes 34 SKUs, with SKU counts that include both straight and Weldon shank styles.

TOP-Cut VAR end mills feature unique flute and profile geometries optimized for long tool life and superior performance in both roughing and finishing applications. Variable helix angle flutes provide extensive vibration dampening and are precision ground with advanced edge preparation to maximize chip evacuation. All TOP-Cut VAR End Mills have an advanced ALCR PVD coating that enables outstanding performance, extended life in higher operating temperatures, and a proprietary sub-micro grain carbide provides maximum abrasion resistance and durability. The tools are available in stock and ready to ship.

“Our TOP-Cut VAR tools are the best choice for manufacturers that need flexibility and performance,” said Dan Kelly, EMUGE-FRANKEN USA CAM Support Director. “These new chip-breaker configurations give machinists even more control in demanding applications where chip evacuation and process reliability directly impact productivity.”
