“This is your last chance, Superman. Why don’t you do yourself a favor, and take a chill pill.” –Lex Luthor in Superman.
“I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not.”–Hoosiers
Can you think of a bad Gene Hackman movie? I don’t think I can.
To be honest I haven’t seen many of the old ones that he is famous for like The French Connection or Mississippi Burning–my father in-law keeps telling me to see that one.
I love his flicks like Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, The Firm, Hoosiers, and even The Bird Cage.
I know there are some fishy horrific circumstances being talked about as far as how he died. But let’s take a moment and think about how he positively affected our lives–the joy he brought us.
A few more of my favorite lines from a true master.
Runaway Jury: “Gentlemen, trials are too important to be left up to juries.”
Crimson Tide: “We’re here to preserve democracy, not practice it.” Oy!
Hoosiers: “I love you guys.”
RIP Gene Hackman. Thank you for bringing fun and joy into my life!
I plan to watch Hoosiers tonight!
Question: What is your favorite Gene Hackman film?

Thats a hard one, probably Mississippi burning would be my first choice, Enemy of the state second, and then a tie for Crimson Tide and the Firm. I would watch any of these with equal enthusiasm though. I have the French Connection but have never watched it, I will now.
Noah, I will take Hoosiers because I love underdog films. Just watched Friday Night Lights for the fifth time.
Crimson Tide with him and Denzel Washington are close second. A submarine flick with those two wonderful actors is hard to beat.
What do you think of Hunt for the Red October versus Crimson Tide?
I still think Crimson Tide, but Hunt for the October is solid. Rather very good.!
I haven’t seen a lot of his movies in AGES, but I am planning a watch tonight. The Royal Tenenbaums was great, and I still remember the original Superman. Maybe I will watch The Scarecrow or Mississippi Burning…
In a supporting role….BONNIE & CLYDE
