[Franklin Lakes, NJ – June 24, 2026 ] Mitsui Seiki USA will introduce the Vertex55X
NEO high-performance vertical machining center with FANUC 31i-B5 Plus control for
simultaneous precision 5-axis machining applications in Booth 338700 (South Building)
at IMTS 2026, September 14-19 at McCormick Place (Chicago, Illinois). Designed to
machine complex blade geometries, difficult-to-cut ceramics, and mold and die
operations among others, the Vertex55X NEO offers 5-axis configuration with a tilting A-
axis and full rotary C-axis for more complete machining operations in fewer setups. This
includes the use of shorter tools for those difficult-to-reach cavities and undercuts, and
better finishes. Its ultra high-speed spindle capability – up to 30,000 RPM – helps to
significantly reduce polishing and lead times while at the same time offering advanced
thermal stability and +/-0.001 mm positioning accuracy. The FANUC 31i-B5 Plus control
provides AI contour control and high-speed processing. Integrated automation options,
probing technology and high-speed tool changing capabilities provide mold and die
manufacturers with the capacity to achieve highly accurate parts to meet even the most
difficult customer deadlines.
The Vertex 55X NEO features a table longitudinal stroke (X-axis) of 550 mm, table cross
stroke (Y-axis) of 600 mm and spindle head vertical stroke (Z-ais) of 500 mm. Roller-
type linear guide ways offer the high-rigidity necessary to maintain exceptional
accuracy, precision and repeatability. An absolute linear glass scale indicates the exact
position of the X/Y/Z axes for accurate repeatability while an absolute rotary Inductosyn
scale performs the same function for the A and C axes. The machine automatically
knows its exact position when it’s turned on in both instances. Cutting feed and traverse
rates range from 0.1-48,000 mm/minute on the X/Y/Z axes to a traverse rate of 40 RPM
on the A (tilt) axis with a cutting feed of 30 RPM, on the C (rotary) axis. Manufacturers
are now able to scale up their machining processes from slow and controlled feeds for
high-precision finishing on those difficult-to reach sections such as cavities and deep
pockets to the high-speeds required to efficiently rough out large blocks of material for
precision contouring applications.
This newly introduced vertical machining center was thoughtfully designed to solve the
main challenges faced by mold and die manufacturers: deliver complex high-precision
parts of tough-to-machine materials with the highest degree of accuracy and
repeatability within demanding lead times. Each Vertex55X NEO is fully customizable to
meet customer needs.
“The Vertex55X NEO gives mold and die manufacturers the ability to machine complex
geometries with exceptional accuracy and 30,000 RPM performance, significantly
reducing polishing and lead times. It’s a platform built to help our customers deliver
superior quality faster and more consistently,” said Joe Farkas, National Sales Director,
Mitsui Seiki USA.
For nearly 100 years, Mitsui Seiki has not only been a leader in precision machine
design and production but also in expertise. On Wednesday, September 16, 2026,
Nathan Swartzbaugh, Director of Sales West, will discuss “Thoughtful Automation: High-
Precision CNC Machining Processes Demand Extraordinary Reliability and
Repeatability – Harnessing the Power of Data-Driven Analysis – and Perhaps AI – To
Achieve The Perfect Part the First Time” from 9:00-9:55 am in Room W192-A (West
Building) at the show.
