Takisawa Machine Tool Co., Ltd. (the “Company”) announced today this month’s launch of TEX-2500S, a middle-class, tool-spindle-type multi-tasking machine that features both an excellent machining speed as a turret lathe and a uniquely high versatility as a multi-tasking machine. Adopting an “opposed twin-spindle + tool spindle” mechanical configuration, TEX-2500S is capable of machining different types of parts from lathes to gears.
This newly launched multi-tasking machine realizes a smooth transition from a combined machining CNC lathe to an ATC-equipped (automatic tool changer-equipped) multi-tasking machine. With an optimized structure, this compact and cost-saving model reflects high rigidity and accuracy from the Company’s high-end TMX series. Evaluated highly after debuting at last year’s EMO 2025, TEX-2500S will serve as your production base’s “next-generation standard” to greatly contribute to realizing a more productive manufacturing site.
■ Background leading to the development of TEX-2500S and its concept
As the manufacturing workplace is in a growing need of high-mix small-lot production and saving space, the Company has developed TEX-2500S based on a three-fold concept of “flexible (adaptable),” “fast (mobile),” “economical (efficient).” As an optimum model to step up from a conventional turret (capstan) lathe, TEX-2500S will help its users make their production more efficient.
■ Main features
1. Flexible (adaptable) – Efficient use of internal space and high flexibility for automation
- High-capacity ATC to support high-mix small-lot production: Capable of storing 30 tools as standard and up to 60 tools, TEX-2500S reduces machine setup frequency significantly for more efficient production.
- Wide internal space: With its tool spindle 15% shorter than those of conventional models, TEX-2500S enjoys a wider degree of freedom. When the X axis is at the origin position, the right spindle can move at any angle, eliminating unnecessary retraction/evacuation movements and helping reduce cycle time.
- Variety of automation options: TEX-2500S adopts various options to help automate the workplace, including the “Parts Catcher & discharge conveyor” unit – essential to bar-used consecutive machining – and an automatic tool setter – an advance tool measuring function to prevent troubles.
2. Fast (mobile) – Shorter non-machining time with an economical magazine layout
- Fast, slewing-free ATC: With an innovative magazine layout that can replace tools without slewing the tool spindle, TEX-2500S can replace a tool 14% faster than conventional models, to greatly contribute to realizing more efficient autonomous driving.
3. Economic (efficient) – With a footprint app. 30% smaller than conventional models, TEX-2500S brings full-scale composite processing closer to the user.
- App. 30% reduction in footprint: With its footprint 30% less than conventional models, TEX-2500S can be installed smoothly into a limited space in a factory.
- Continuation of basic design concepts: Though compact, TEX-2500S faithfully reflects the design concepts of the Company’s high-end model, TMX series (e.g., a high-rigidity tool spindle and a bed structure that inhibits thermal displacement), maintaining high machining accuracy.
